Obituary of Glenn Edgar Young

Glenn E. Young, 74, of Oxford, New Jersey passed away peacefully on July 21 st , 2024 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Glenn was born on February 13, 1950 in Dover, New Jersey to the late Lois and Charles Young. Glenn grew up in Rockaway, New Jersey and graduated from Rockaway High School in 1969. In 1980 Glenn married his one true love Erika Young (neé Matusewicz) and together they raised three sons and one daughter in the Great Meadows/Hackettstown area. For many years Glenn worked for Woolworth’s Department Store as the manager, in Bernardsville, until the business closed for good. Glenn then went on to work for the past few decades with a few different tree services most recently with Asplundh working as a bucket operator clearing trees and branches from utility lines.

Glenn was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and truly cherished all the time he got to spend with his family. Glenn enjoyed traveling and camping and made a trip every year to Tennessee, but it didn’t stop there Glenn was known to book a spontaneous cruise and take his beloved wife on a much needed getaway. If you knew Glenn you would also know that he loved the holidays and getting to decorate for each and every one. Glenn’s favorite of course was Christmas. He would decorate the inside and outside of his home into a winter wonderland and would have given Chevy Chase a run for his money. In the warmer months Glenn enjoyed working in his garden growing fruits and vegetables as well as a large array of flowers.

Glenn will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 44 years, Erika Young, son Kristopher Young (Kimberly), son Barry Young (Marissa), daughter Maria Ford (Earl), sister Darlene Walthers (Lew), brother Kelsie Young (Barbara), brother Jody Young, and by his grandchildren: Erin, Alexis, Erik (Amanda), Haley, Karson, Konnor, Rachael, Raelyn, and Ryliegh, great-granddaughter Amelia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn is predeceased by his parents Lois and Charles Young, a son Erik Young, and by a brother Barry Young.

Cremation to be held privately in accordance with the family’s wishes.
