Obituary of David B. Dunton
David Birt Dunton, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Alexandria Manor of Nazareth. He was born on May 19, 1946, in Portsmouth, NH, to the late William Dunton and Rita (nee Birt) Dunton.
Most recently, David served as a maintenance supervisor for the NJ Water Supply Authority until his retirement. He married his beloved wife, Jeanette “Judy” (nee Whitmore), on December 10, 1977. They shared forty-three wonderful years of marriage until Judy's passing on March 10, 2021. David was a devoted father and was fortunate to help raise Judy's ten children. He took immense pride and joy in spending time with his 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
David loved the outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping and fishing. He was always eager for a fun game of horseshoes, holding memberships with both the Florida Chapter Flagler Horseshoe Association and the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassionate spirit, and he will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his son, John Dunton and his wife Katie; daughter, Kelly Freitas; step-sons, Edward Lindaberry and his wife Jackie of Palm Coast, FL, Mark Lindaberry and his wife Kathy of Washington, NJ, Scott Lindaberry and his wife Marilyn of West Virginia; step-daughters, Janice Decker and her husband Bob of Effort, PA, Michelle Stone and her husband Gene of Broadway, NJ, Stacey Lindaberry and her husband Chris of Martins Creek, PA, Roxanne Reinacher and her husband Dave of Oxford, NJ; his 22 grandchildren; and his 25 great-grandchildren.Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his cherished wife Jeanette “Judy” Dunton; stepsons, David Lindaberry and Michael Lindaberry; step-daughter, Danell Stott; brother, Mike Dunton; and sisters, Anne Sullivan and Ursula “Bunty” Hogan.
David’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Alexandria Manor for their exceptional care and also to The Care Team Hospice for making his final days peaceful. Friends and family are invited to visit with David’s family on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a service beginning at 11:00 AM at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 142 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Burial will follow immediately after the service at the Reformed Cemetery, located at 225 South Delaware Drive, Bangor PA.
The service for David will be live-streamed through the Knoll-DeVoe Facebook page, starting at 10:55am on the day of the service.
