Obituary of George Armbrecht

George Armbrecht 76 of Washington NJ died at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington NJ on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

He was the son of the late George and Edith Brush Armbrecht.

George was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and later on, the Sea Girt Police Academy.

He was retired from the Human Services Police Department as a Lieutenant. His career started at the Washington Borough Police Department, his police career spanned 40 years. At one time he raised pigs and worked for Agway as well as many other jobs. His last jobs were at Hunterdon Hills Residential Home and Smith Motors.

He was a member of the Mansfield Lodge F & MA 136, Washington NJ

George loved hunting, camping with his family and listening to his son play guitar, sitting outside with the neighbors and watching his loved NY Giants, NY Mets and Boston Red Sox. George loved to tell stories of his police days, childhood in Washington. The pride he had in his family and giving words of wisdom.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sara Apgar Armbrecht, children; Gene Armbrecht at home, George Armbrecht of Burlington flats NY, Michelle Armbrecht of Oxford NJ, brother; Thomas Armbrecht of Camden Maine, sisters; Edith Bartleson of Sciota PA and Arlene Kerr of South Paris Maine, grandchildren; Anthony Armbrecht, Paul Armbrecht and Amber Fernandez and her husband Tony of Hamilton NJ, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He loved them all. He is also survived by his beloved dog, PJ

The Visitation will be Friday April 5, from 1-3 and 6-8 PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:30AM in the Spruce Run Lutheran Church 442 west Hill road, Glen Gardner NJ 08826. Burial to follow in the Spruce Run Lutheran Cemetery. Masonic Services will be Friday at 7 PM in the funeral home.
